Coast are a boat trip company launching from St Ives Bay, Hayle and Penzance in Cornwall. Offering fun and educational trips around the Cornish Coast. They are certain to operate in a safe, environmentally-conscious and responsible manner. Their crew are committed to offering the highest quality service, with Captain Jack providing over 15 years of professional experience at sea, and all guides offering incredible information, having graduated from local universities in marine biology and related fields
The problem:
Coast Boat Trips was a brand new company looking to get off the ground quickly, but operating in an increasingly competitive industry. They needed an impressive website that showcased what they offered, made them stand out against competitors, allowed them to rank organically, and allowed customers to make bookings online. They needed their summer season to be successful enough to see them through the winter, and allow them to become both an authority in their field, and a must-visit attraction in Cornwall.
The strategy:
As a brand new business, Coast Boat Trips wanted to hit the ground running with a website that doesn’t just sell boat ride tickets but also showcases their vast knowledge of ocean wildlife. Solve started with the branding, creating a logo and brand guidelines for all subsequent work to be built using. This branding was also used for offsite marketing such as flyers, truck decals, flags and business cards.
The next step was the design and building of their WordPress website. The site structure was made to be easily expandable, as well as covering all potential areas and information that a customer might want to know. User experience was of utmost importance to ensure a quick and easy purchasing process and an SEO foundation was factored into the build in order for the website to perform as well as possible upon launch.
The results:
We created a custom, fast and responsive website with usability at its heart and a sleek and modern design. The website not only meets, but exceeds the desired outcomes, by providing a super simple booking process on desktop and mobile, but also allowing for the team’s extensive knowledge of wildlife and the surrounding areas to be highlighted. The site also allows for the knowledge to be easily built upon with an easy to edit blog, and the capability to grow the number of pages covering wildlife and sightseeing locations.
In the first 6 months of launch:
– 95.76% of bookings came through the website
– Then number of users visiting the book page on the website grew exponentially month on month.
– 74% of traffic came through a mobile device.
And most importantly of all, Coast Boat Trips were so successful that they have been able to cover for the winter period, and are ready and raring to go for summer season two!
