Wowcher runs one of the UK’s highest-traffic daily-deals marketplaces, but a 1.61% conversion rate meant most shoppers arrived with intent and left without buying. The two biggest leaks: 86% of people who viewed a deal never moved forward, and 91% of those who reached checkout never completed. Every percentage point of improvement was worth an estimated £6.2 million a year in lost mobile-web revenue.
Session recordings showed the real issue was trust rather than discovery. High-intent shoppers reached payment, hesitated and left. Orium‘s strategy anchored on three shopper types (a bargain hunter, a bargain maximiser and a treat justifier) who all shared one need: to believe the deal was real before committing.
The redesign targeted five areas: a calmer, more trustworthy checkout; simplified deal pages that cut through option overload; a stronger search experience; onboarding that routes new users to relevant deals immediately; and a homepage and navigation redesigned to move users into structured categories rather than a low-engagement generic feed.
Phase 1 delivered a customer-anchored strategy, a redesign across web and app, and a hypothesis backlog ready to test. A six-month test-and-iterate cycle begins mid-August 2026, with the conversion uplift still to be measured.
