As The Tile Shop expanded its digital presence, it faced increasing challenges with its legacy monolithic ERP system.

The Tile Shop faced challenges with a fragmented legacy environment, where siloed business applications and reliance on development teams for content updates slowed marketing efforts.

The Tile Shop’s online UI was broken down into two components: one powered by Sitecore XP, and one powered by SAP.

With Altudo, they moved their legacy systems to best-of-breed composable architecture that supports high traffic volumes, flexible product content, and innovative merchandising strategies.
With Sitecore360 service package, The Tile Shop migrated from Sitecore XP to a newly developed headless, composable ecommerce architecture using Sitecore XM Cloud, Sitecore OrderCloud and Sitecore Discover.

The new, decoupled Sitecore architecture is agile and uses the best applications and components, including integrating with the company’s ERP system for access to transactional and master data.

Within 5 months of implementation, The Tile Shop’s website page loads were five times faster — from 14 seconds to 2.7 seconds.

Other noteworthy achievements included-

  • 20% increase in conversion rate
  • 25% increase in average order value
  • 75% faster content deployment

This experience was a reminder that however much time and effort you put in the plan for discovery, you need more. It needs to be in-depth and in-person where possible because there is so much nuance. There are so many little things that our business does and to make sure we get all that across, we needed as much time as possible. From a learning standpoint, it is critical to manage the scope. We managed our scope tightly and aggressively, and very intentionally. It is also essential to have partners that demonstrate clarity, honest, and good communication.”- Christopher Davis, CIO, The Tile Shop.
