When the State of Iowa set out to modernize more than 70 agency websites serving 32 million annual visits, they faced a big challenge: inconsistent design, outdated content, and a frustrating user experience for both the public and the editors managing these sites.

Lullabot partnered with Iowa to create a unified, accessible, and scalable Drupal platform that puts people first, whether they’re renewing a license, finding public health updates, or accessing state services. We streamlined navigation, simplified editorial tools, and embedded accessibility from the very start, ensuring the platform works for every Iowan.

The result is a consistent, trustworthy experience across agencies, faster load times, and dramatically improved content quality—some agencies reduced outdated content by over 90%. Editorial teams now have the tools and governance they need to keep information accurate and relevant, while a flexible design system gives each agency room for its own identity within a cohesive statewide brand.

Iowa’s digital transformation is more than a technology upgrade; it’s a long-term investment in usability, accessibility, and trust.
