Since 1922, Sight for Surrey has supported people across Surrey who are blind, partially sighted, Deaf, hard of hearing or deafblind through practical support, expert services and trusted advice. Creative Triangle redesigned and built the charity’s website to make that help easier to find and use.
Five focus groups, audience personas and mapped user journeys shaped the work. Participants described the former website as difficult to navigate and did not want to be categorised first by disability. Creative Triangle responded with a task-focused structure that lets visitors start with what they need. A new sitemap consolidated more than 100 pages into approximately 40 core pages and reduced mapped routes from around five or six clicks to approximately two or three.
Launched on 18 August 2026, the website pairs a warm navy-and-yellow visual system with responsive Elementor templates, task-focused navigation, clearer referral pathways, events, resources and donations, plus Signly British Sign Language translation on supported content. Structured WordPress content types give staff editorial control while preserving consistency, and the framework can accommodate a later e-commerce phase.
MyWeb Access, part of MyVision Oxfordshire, independently assessed the website against WCAG 2.2 Level AA using manual evaluation, manually verified automated checks and assistive-technology testing, followed by disabled-user testing. Where calendar and donation plugins created barriers, Creative Triangle made durable enhancements that preserved their functionality. The final external retest confirmed that all assessed website items passed and that Creative Triangle’s remediation was complete.
The result is a clearer and more maintainable website that helps people across Surrey find trusted information and connect with support without first being defined by disability.
