Kidfluence Code

The Responsible Kidfluence Code is an industry-first initiative created by Pepper Agency to establish ethical standards for the use of children in commercial social media content. As the influencer marketing industry has grown, so has the involvement of children, whether as the subject of family content, as young creators in their own right, or as talent in branded campaigns. Regulation has struggled to keep pace, and the children at the centre of this content have largely been without formal protection.

The Code brings together parents, brands, agencies, and industry professionals to address that gap. It sets out clear, practical guidance for two distinct audiences: parents and guardians whose children appear in commercial content, and the brands, agencies, and marketers who commission and amplify it. Both groups are given their own dedicated section of the site, with content tailored to their specific responsibilities and concerns.

The website was built to give this initiative the platform it deserves. An earlier version of the site presented the Code as a long, text-heavy document, which made it difficult to engage with. This redesign reimagines that experience entirely, using interactive elements, tabbed navigation, accordions, timelines, and bento-style data displays to make the content genuinely accessible. The result is a site that can be read quickly or explored in depth, by a parent with five minutes or a marketing director preparing a campaign brief.

The subject matter is urgent. With ITV News coverage, and alignment with the UNICEF Industry Toolkit on Children’s Rights, the Responsible Kidfluence Code is already gaining serious traction. This website is the public face of that effort, and it was designed to be worthy of it.
