Bromley & Croydon Women’s Aid (BCWA) provides life-changing support for those facing domestic abuse, offering safe accommodation, one-to-one guidance, counselling, and community programmes. Their work is vital, and the website we created for them needed to reflect that—clear, accessible, and supportive to anyone reaching out in distress.
Scruffymonkey designed the BCWA website to be calm, intuitive, and easy to navigate, ensuring every visitor can quickly find the information they need. Prominent pathways for “I Need Help,” referrals, and service details guide users with clarity and confidence. The structure accommodates multiple audiences—survivors, referrers, volunteers, donors, and the wider community—without overwhelming them.
Functionality is built around real-world needs: streamlined referral processes, clear service explanations, accessible resources, and a layout that reduces cognitive load for visitors who may be anxious or in crisis. Strong accessibility, responsive design, and plain-language content ensure inclusivity across all devices and abilities.
At the same time, the website raises BCWA’s profile by showcasing their impact, team, values, and community partnerships. News, events, and “Get Involved” opportunities strengthen engagement and help the organisation grow its supporter base. The design supports trust, professionalism, and transparency—key for safeguarding-focused organisations.
The result is a site that serves as a safe, welcoming, and reliable digital home for BCWA. It empowers visitors to seek help quickly, enables professionals to refer with ease, and gives the charity a stronger platform to share its mission and reach more people across the region.
