All About Shade has been rebuilt by DeCODE Digital four times, and each rebuild answered a different threat.
First mobile and search, when traffic moved to handsets faster than the site did. Then perception, when competitors began to look more current and a considered purchase started going elsewhere. Then complexity, when success had made the site large enough to need a rebuilt navigation architecture. Now AI search.
The hardest of those was perception, because the obvious answer was the wrong one. Flashy would have been easy, and it would have won design praise while quietly alienating most of the customer base. The All About Shade customer is the average Western Australian homeowner, working out whether these people will turn up, do good work and stand behind it. So the site had to read as modern enough to reassure and plain enough to include, carrying workmanship, product credibility and trust without tipping into showroom theatre. Restraint was the more difficult and more commercial choice.
Proof does the rest. Hundreds of real installations, each its own page, searchable by suburb, product or term, and piped back into the product pages, so a homeowner reading about roof to fence blinds sees roof to fence blinds fitted in suburbs they recognise.
4.8% of all users submit an enquiry. 95% of those who start the form finish it. More than nine in ten organic visits arrive from non-branded search. In the last month alone, citations in Google AI Overviews grew 52% and Perplexity citations grew 191%, the compounding return on deciding years ago to answer real questions properly rather than publish a brochure.
