For the Academie voor Wetgeving, the existing website had reached the end of its technical life and needed a full rebuild. Ontwerpwerk designed and built a new site that helps legal professionals within the Dutch national government quickly find and understand the right course, starting from real research into how visitors search and navigate.
The site connects automatically to the Academy’s course management system through an API integration with Webconnect, so the course catalogue on the website is always accurate and never a manually maintained copy of the real data. Smart taxonomies, filters and search functions help time-pressed legal professionals move from a general area of interest to a specific, bookable course with minimal friction.
Visually, the site pairs a bold contemporary typeface with a slender classical one, and uses a warm color palette drawn from the Academy’s own building. This gives the site a distinct, credible look that avoids the cold institutional tone common to legal and government websites. The platform is built on Drupal, meets current WCAG accessibility guidelines, and was handed over with CMS training so the Academy’s own team can manage and grow it independently.
The result is a clear, reliable digital front door for one of the Dutch government’s key legal training institutions.
