The member’s section of the UPMC Health Plan had grown organically over many years and the subsections no longer made sense. Through a combination of member services data, tree testing, and usability testing, the navigation was restructured with light design and code improvements to minimize the development lift. Results showed a dramatic drop in bounce rate and exit rate along with an increase in pages per session, especially among mobile users.
