The Texas Department of Information Resources’ (DIR) website plays a crucial role in delivering technology solutions to state and local government entities. In addition to analyzing cybersecurity risks and collaborating with technology vendors across the state, DIR serves as the cornerstone of public sector technology in Texas.
DIR partnered with Mighty Citizen to improve their website’s user experience, branding, and information architecture. Mighty Citizen overhauled the website design and structure to align the website redesign around DIR’s organizational goals. Pain points such as a lack of an effective search tool, inconsistent branding, and a need for content governance provided the focus for the redesign project. Implementation strategies included:
- Achieving consistent and effective messaging/copy throughout the website.
- Achieve an intuitive, on-brand, clutter-free visual design, using contemporary and accessible best practices.
- Improve usability, accessibility, and security ratings for the website.
- Improve maintenance and governance of both content and site technologies
After the website redesign, Mighty Citizen improved DIR’s ability to promote awareness of DIR’s services, recruit talent for their job listings, and help users find the information and resources they needed. In all, the project has allowed DIR to successfully work towards its organizational goals while supporting state and local organizations in their technology efforts.
