This year, CivicActions made significant improvements to openpaymentsdata.cms.gov, a tool used to search for payments made by drug and medical device companies to physicians, physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, and teaching hospitals. The Open Payments program is a national initiative through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that aims to create a more transparent and accountable health care system. It includes a publicly accessible database of payments made by reporting entities, which CivicActions worked to update in January and June 2023, along with enhancing the overall user experience.
