In September 2020 we started SEO services for an oral surgeon located in Charlotte, North Carolina. They were receiving a spike of organic traffic to their website since March of 2020, but they were not receiving many leads. We performed an audit and found that most of the organic traffic between March 2020 and August 2020 was irrelevant:

  • 88% of organic traffic was from outside of North Carolina.
  • 45% of the organic traffic was on landing pages that were in another language that the office doesn’t offer services in.
  • 6 of the top organic landing pages were instructions for procedures the office doesn’t provide.
  • 0 of the primary service pages were in the top 10 organic landing pages.

We created an SEO strategy to become the leader in the Charlotte market for dental implant procedures and wisdom tooth extraction, focused on conversion rate optimization, content consolidation, content development, and local optimization.

  • Performed a technical SEO audit to discover and clean up any technical SEO errors
  • Developed a site-wide keyword blueprint to update page titles, meta descriptions, and internal linking
  • Added additional conversion points throughout the site
  • Optimized local online profiles
  • Audited and organized the site’s existing content:
  • Combined service pages and blogs competing for the same keywords
  • Evaluated and update outdated content
  • Identified low hanging fruit opportunities to improve existing site content
  • Removed and redirected poor performing content
  • Built a content development plan:
  • Completed keyword and competitor research to identity keyword gaps
  • Identified content opportunities to enhance the service pages
  • Performed topic research to generate evergreen topics
  • Utilized Google Question Hub to develop resources to answer specific questions submitted by users

Results

  • Increased YoY organic website traffic by 4419%
  • Increased YoY organic page views of the dental implant service page by 376%
  • Increased YoY organic page views of the wisdom tooth removal service page by 238%
  • Increased organic leads 13% MoM and 152% YoY
  • Within 6 months we increased organic traffic from North Carolina from 10% (July 2020) to 36% (January 2021)
  • Gained consistent presence in Google positions 1-3 for dental implant and wisdom tooth extraction keywords in the Charlotte area
