In the early stages of drug discovery, when science is still evolving and funding is limited, a biotech company’s digital presence plays a critical role. It is often the first place investors, partners, and potential hires go to understand both the science and the team behind it. A clear, well-structured digital identity helps translate complex ideas into something accessible and credible, supporting early engagement and helping companies move closer to clinical or industrial application.
Founded in 2021, Laverock Therapeutics is developing a gene-silencing platform designed to enable more precise, “smart” cell therapies for cancer and autoimmune diseases. Entering a competitive field without an established profile, the company needed to communicate a technically complex proposition in a way that would resonate with investors, partners, and the wider scientific community.
Sciad Communications partnered with Laverock to shape its brand and digital presence as it evolved from a start-up into a more established player in advanced therapies. The initial phase focused on building a clear identity, including a visual concept inspired by “laverock”—the Scottish word for skylark—symbolising forward movement and ambition. A website was developed to present scientific content in a structured, accessible way, supported by a targeted PR programme that secured coverage in leading industry publications.
By 2024, Laverock had raised over £14 million in seed funding. As the company matured, its digital presence was refreshed to reflect a more confident positioning. The website was rebuilt in Webflow, improving flexibility, search performance, and content management, while updated imagery and clearer user journeys enhanced engagement across audiences.
Laverock continues to grow, with ongoing work in in vivo gene therapy and new collaborations—demonstrating how strategic branding, digital development, and communications can build credibility and momentum in a competitive space.
