Innovation and Creativity
We developed a unique information platform, that connects all the participants within 34 African countries, who are working on restorative environmental activities within Africa.
The primary goal of the resource is to publish AFR100‘s restoration projects to present the fund and attract new participants of all types to the cause.
With the support of the regional administrations, our solution will become one of the most sought-after platforms where people will:
- Learn about each other
- Learn about the challenges of local entrepreneurs
- Collaborate and share their experiences with each other.
Content and Overall UX
Content is the driving force of the platform for building trust between the audience and the fund.
The content we used consisted of photos and videos of real people battling the desertification of Africa, which will attract the right people to the effort.
The platform will act as a unique database housing 80+ projects from all the different profiles of the 34 countries, all of which are open to the public.
During the development, we had to consider the limited internet access in the remote parts of Africa, which required us to optimize as much as possible, like:
- The weight of the images
- How we were presenting information
- The formatting of longer pages so they are easier to read
- The websites version for mobile browsers
Visual Design, Aesthetics
The visual design of the project was not just a replacement or reworking of the previous designs, we had to draw inspiration from:
- World Resources Initiative, their parent organization
- AFR100 initiative’s own branding
- Traditional African art
These inspirations allowed us to create something new and exciting for the project that was unique to AFR100’s restoration effort.
Ultimately, we were able to unify everything that had been done prior to our taking over the project, by enhancing the logo graphics with round shapes pictograms, and many other user interface elements.
