The redesigned website for the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) is a digital front door for the people of Iowa. It gives access to 11 bus routes, paratransit, and on-demand services that connect thousands of people every day to jobs, schools, medical appointments and much more.

Exemplifi designed and developed the site, drawing on its experience in the transit sector. The site brings together transit tools that help riders plan and manage their commutes throughout Iowa.

A trip planner is built directly into the homepage header. With custom-themed maps, it gives clear routes to a chosen destination. It is paired with a “Next Bus” tool that shows upcoming bus times for a specific location and time. An integrated event calendar lists upcoming events hosted by the agency.

The team worked with the agency to build a website that is both effective and meaningful, aligned with the agency’s mission and vision: connecting communities and providing affordable, convenient mobility options that support economic prosperity for all.

The site provides essential information such as fares, the range of services, and rider resources to support people whenever they ride with DART. The design and clear navigation let visitors move between sections, including transit tools and helpful resources, without friction.

The website is built to be accessible to a broad set of visitors, mirroring the agency itself, which provides safe, reliable, and accessible transportation, especially through its paratransit services. The team prioritized accessibility in every aspect of design and development and achieved a AA-rated website.
