The College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) regulates more than 7,000 occupational therapists to protect the public’s interest. Their new website needed to serve a wide range of users—from the public to OTs, students, and employers—while being welcoming, accessible, and easy to navigate.
We created a modern, responsive site that simplifies navigation, consolidates resources, and improves accessibility. Key features include audience-specific overview pages, a central resource hub with filters and tags, and enhanced search functionality. Content was streamlined for clarity and written to meet AODA accessibility standards and DEI guidelines.
The design reflects COTO’s approachable brand with bold colours, diverse imagery, and layouts that balance professionalism with warmth. Over 250 pages of content were audited, cleaned, and migrated to WordPress, supported by a redirect strategy to preserve SEO rankings. Select resources are also available in both English and French.
As regulations evolve and new educational materials are introduced, COTO’s centralized resource hub will continue to grow in importance. With flexible templates and WordPress’s block editor, staff can easily add and update content, ensuring the site remains a trusted and accessible source for OTs, employers, and the public across Ontario.
