Red Egg Marketing developed a new website and updated brand for the American Museum of Western Art (AMWA). Not only is it a very attractive site, a great portrayal of Western art, and a massive improvement in overall user experience, the website includes a full ticketing and event platform, an innovative historic timeline, an educator’s resource center, a museum ecommerce shop, a robust portfolio, and more. The site was developed in WordPress using a custom theme comprised of Gutenberg blocks built in React while leveraging WooCommerce as the ecommerce platform.
AMWA is unique because it is open to the public every other weekday. The new ticket booking UI improves the experience of buying a ticket. Red Egg Marketing created a custom booking page that streamlines the ticket-buying process. Unlike most museum sites, AMWA doesn’t force users to a 3rd-party site to make their purchase, and everything is handled on site. The online ticketing process even seamlessly works with their physical point of sale system to ensure ticket quantities are always up to date. The museum shop is also integrated with WooCommerce so visitors can purchase both digital tickets and physical items in the same checkout.
Red Egg developed an innovative way to organize and present free lesson and activity ideas for educators by developing a page template with a submenu with anchor links. Educators can easily view the resources which includes artwork overlaid by tool tips to create an engaging and interactive experience.
Designed and developed to educate the public and provide a digital viewing experience, paintings from a variety of eras are featured on the site in a user-friendly portfolio that incorporates videos, text, and image galleries to captivate viewers and allow them to digitally explore the Museum. A fully custom historic timeline feature was also developed with smooth, dynamic animations and an optimum user experience, no matter the device.
