Electric Citizen was hired to plan, design, and rebuild the Montana Law Help website.
The site is an online resource offering legal resources to state residents. It primarily serves low-income and disadvantaged people in need of legal advice or aid. The previous site was dated in appearance and lacked a modern user experience that would best serve those in need.
Electric Citizen worked with the client on all stages of the project. During planning and discovery, we audited their existing content, reviewed analytics, and held several interactive workshops around a reworked content strategy. The existing navigation and sitemap were reworked to better serve users while simplifying the user experience. We tested the new navigation with users prior to finalizing our selections.
Our technical architects worked on a content migration plan from the old system, while planning out a new interactive application to help guide users to the legal assistance. The design team worked a new user interface and layout, from initial wireframes to full page mockups, sourcing graphics and other media along the way.
The dev team then built out the redesign website in a new CMS (Drupal), along with an embedded “legal guide” application, which was coded in Vue.js. Prior to launch, Electric Citizen conducted user testing with Montana residents and made final adjustments to the site as needed for the best possible user experience. The site is multilingual as well, with content in both English and Spanish.
